Capt Randy Rogers down here by SPI used to run a Carolina 24 or so, and the steering was never a problem. They do tend to "crab" a bit, big whup, it's different just like steering a cat is different.
Check the transom real good for stress cracks before ya buy it. Five grand is a heck of a good deal.

I agree it might be a good buy and serve your purpose but it might have implications with USCG , TPWD and your insurance company if you choose to insure it.......you are only allowed a certain percentage of over powering a boat ( the HP rating is stated on the hull ).....you might want to look into it...GOOD LUCK with your boat search..." I have a 258DLV with a 4-stroke Suzuki 150 and it will run 50mph without getting winded. That rig should come out of the water with a 200hp.
