In case anyone forgets, I think the moose at the entrance to the park will remind you.

      LMAO Jeff!!

Just launch at the old Ernie's ramp across from the Peregrine condos. The exit into Christmas is well marked.

The boat ramp at the old Ernie's also needs to be dredged out. With winter low tides it's difficult for a V-hull boat to get out without pushing. At times I have to push out my Shoalwater Cat.

Maybe they will get it right this time; otherwise it will just silt in again.

Yep, Ernie's needs to be dredged too, but it's not quite as bad as the county park was getting to be. Hopefully it will be good for 5 years or so once it's done.

              UPDATE:

The dredging crew has not been making a lot of progress. According to them, it is due to low tides. Anyone that has been watching knows that they were very slow to get started. Their permit is only good until March 15, so they are now planning to begin dredging at night when the tides are higher. The planned completion is now for sometime during the first week of March.

It may be due to low tides now, but they've been dragging their feet terribly. They did almost nothing for the first month and a half. I know I don't know all the ins and outs, but after just a couple weeks I knew they wouldn't make the Feb. 1st deadline.

That is great news! Being a person who prefers to go out of San Luis Pass for some offshore runs when the seas are flat in the summer this is exciting news! Thanks to all who were involved in this dredging project! God bless ya!

I checked out the new channel last Sunday. Both sides are now marked with poles (until they get run over) and the average depth was 8 1/2 feet. Should be good for a while.

Bayou Uber...are you talking about the channel coming thru from west bay to the bridge or just the area around the ramp?

That's the channel at the park coming from the boat ramp that just got dredged out.
