Has anyone found a way to do a Google Maps overlay on an Lowrance HDS7? I am the least technological guy on earth

Coach Law is the least technological guy on earth. At least you knew enough to ask the question. He still uses cassette tapes and a cell phone from 1992.

I’m looking at the new Garmin GPSMap 942xs.. I don’t know crap about this stuff either.

      I use a compass and a stick.

I was able to overlay the "non-water" portions but that didn't help me for when I was in the marsh.

I ended up bringing along my Garmin handheld for these areas which has Satellite Imagery as part of the basemap feature. It's a paid for annual service (one-time) but once you have the image you should be okay.

Another way of getting aerials is using Google Maps on your phone. I'd suggest a RAM phone mount w/ suction cup and you can turn on the satellite view while running. This was always very helpful to me and I started to rely on it more than my GPS SAT image views. The resolution was clearer.
