This WILL have serious effect on West Bay

A "land bridge" is being proposed to replace the existing swing bridge to pelican island. I am guessing this is being pushed by developers and is MORE expensive than a fly over bridge. This would have a huge impact on the eco system of upper West Bay and fishing. It would mean all the water that now flows thru the Galveston Channel and boat traffic would now be diverted to the Pelican island cut. We need to oppose seriously oppose this.

No, those are mostly industrial sites, not housing and a big chunk is part of Sullivan Companies, Newport Galveston. The proponents are tied to Sullivan Companies in one way or another-and plan on giving up flounder runs at Seawolf park forever except directly wading from the Park.

It is pure, unadulterated rape of West bay like Lori sorta says above. For years they've wanted to develop Pelican Island and this will do it.

Send emails to Sullivan/Greg Pappas and Galveston City Council-but they won't care-the Council only gives a darn about $$$$-mainly in their pockets-look at Pointe West and that bullchip-the developers sold a bucket of lies to Lyda Ann and the Council and no telling how much 'lobby' $$ went into their coffers-now the best surf fishing is no longer accessible by car. Pointe West had maps on their website showing a deep water marina straight into the Gulf just east of San Luis Pass-the city idiots believed it!! We are dealing with Dain Bramaged politicians that are the scum of the earth. They make Hellary look smart and honest.

My money says this land bridge will happen before I die. West bay will be screwed and no access to the Jetties except by adding 30 minutes via boat-all lies and a money grab!!!

FYI Pelican Island Land Bridge

From what I have discovered the Sullivan family who seem to be pushing this owns the land on both sides of the proposed bridge. The bridge when completed would increase their property value, They spend a lot of money dredging every few years because of the silt the flows through the current bridge which a land bridge stop.

While there is a feeling that this could not happen I think we need to kill it before it does gather anymore support.

Contact your represatatives and tell them you do not want a land bridge to Pelican Island.
