Pelican Island Land Bridge

A "land bridge" is being proposed to replace the existing swing bridge to pelican island. I am guessing this is being pushed by developers and is MORE expensive than a fly over bridge. This would have a huge impact on the eco system of upper West Bay and fishing. It would mean all the water that now flows thru the Galveston Channel and boat traffic would now be diverted to the Pelican island cut. We need to seriously oppose this.

Who's proposing this? Do you really think they can divert the channel?

The Sullivans are. I heard about it awhile back; and I don't think its even in the drawing board room yet to come up with any concrete plan or proposal. I thought it was just an idea, maybe not because i haven't been keeping up it with it. I think it would be more of inconvenience to boaters than anything.

The shoaling affect it would cause would be ridiculous.

That’s a lot of water to divert through pelican for sure. Could be an issue with commercial traffic in the cut if it’s running really hard.
