I have had food poisoning several times (one time even resulted in a trip to the emergency room) and it's not something you get over in a couple of hours. It's normally at the very least 24 hours and sometimes much longer.

I think Plugger is probably right on with what he said -- I fell between a 50 foot boat and the dock when I was a kid and wound up with a few broken ribs from the swell smashing me between the dock and the boat. I distinctly remember being extremely nauseous and throwing up as soon as they pulled me back on the deck and blacking out within minutes. I don't remember any "cable laying" issues associated with it but it was 25 years ago so I may be fuzzy on all of it. At the very least go to your general practitioner and let him give you a once over and do some blood work. It'll be worth it for the peace of mind. You definitely don't want to black out again while you're driving or wading or something.

    Hope you feel better!

Chip, don't hesitate my friend.. Find you a Cardio Doc asp.. A simple ekg can determine any stroking or heart attack possiblities. I serious doubt any food poison would cause a black out, the pain from the ankle pop maybe..? Why chance it, you know I know... After my surgery 2 wks ago it was determine that I was sooooo close to the big one and almost waiting to long.

I'll drive you of you want, just go!!

Chip, get to a doctor this week and explain all the details. It's probably nothing more than food poisoning, but you are always better to err on the cautious side. I ignored a small mole for about 6 months, that my favorite little nurse kept hounding me about. When I finally got to my doctor, he referred me to a dermatologist, who cut a whole in me. The story goes on, and I ended up in a hospital for a day surgery. I was actually probably within days of having to do a round or two of kimotherapy.

Go to the doctor, and let him tell you that there are no issues!!

          Vagal Response

Hammer, you probably had a Vagal response...which was caused by the pain in your ankle...it can make you pass out and vomit. You pass out and then you throw up, and then you feel stupid (at least that's the way I felt), it happened to me when I was probably around 16 and was really sick with the flu; I jumped up out of bed to quick and got light headed, crashed in the hall, woke up and vomitted, and my mom (RN) said it was a vagal response... But I also agree with the rest of the suggestions, go see a doc! At your age...cardio stuff starts creeping into the picture...my dad had a quadruple bypass at 49....

Wow Dude, that sounds pretty serious. I get the upset stomach part, but not the numbness of the leg and passing out issue. Call your doctor asap. If you don't have one, I got one I can recommend.

Wow, that's some trust.
I talked to one of my bro's earlier (he's an anesthesiologist) and asked him about this episode. He said you should get checked out. He said it sounds like some high blood pressure issues.
That's scarey... I agree with SCHU, nothing to mess with.
                    Good luck.
You are right that there is a lot of trust in this group.....I am pleased to say that I have many good friends on this site. You also have to realize that it is pretty easy to put stuff like this out there on a website where there are lots of good people you know, but there is a lot of anonymity also, so it makes it pretty easy to throw it out there.

I will be going to see a doc sometime this week before the Matty trip just to make sure I am OK.

                    Thanks for all the help!

I've had that happen a few times Chip. It almost always occurs after a severe bout of pain. When I got a hernia, I remember waking up under my work truck drenched in sweat.
When I broke my heel I came to in the back seat of my boss's truck on the way to the ER.
I work just enough to pay for my fishing habit.

Sounds like you got sick from the ankle pop. If you are blowing chunks from both ends it could be from all the grease, otherwise you would be blowing chunks all day from food poison. hope you feel better in time for the game.
