  • Need some computer help.

    Need some computer assistance.
The wife's laptop got a virus. Its that one that tells you that you have a virus and tries to get you to buy a new virus protection program.
I'm pretty useless about computers so I'm needing help getting rid of it.
    Any advice/help/tips?
    Thanks

If you want to bring it up to Santa Fe, I have a friend who's wife is a computer guru. She's helped many friends of mine.

Do a google search on it and there are plenty of programs that will get rid of it......Malwarebytes, AVG etc.
I had the same problem and downloaded AVG and it took care of it.

Give it two aspirin, plenty of fluids and rest.

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. Can you posst a print screen of the culprit? At work I am the spyware removal tech guy. Few questions.

1: Can you get to task manager by pressing control + alt + delete?
2: Click on start, then run and type regedit and press enter. Does it open?
3: Click on start, then run and type cmd and press enter. Does it open?

Malware bytes should get it. I like to dig into the registry to get rid of them so the malware wont bug me every time the registry gets updated.

You might need a mobile geek, costs about a $100. It's really hard to explain a fix over the Inter-Web.

It all comes down to good computer sanitation - just like you don't clean fish on a dirty fish table full of seagull pooh.

I can suggest some cheap programs but AVG is the best antivirus and I use 4 other programs to keep the machine clean, like a registry cleaner.

Don't worry it's a common problem, and my daughter has a locked up laptop for exactly the same reason as you. She didn't listen to me, LOL, she asked me to buy her a NEW COMPUTER.

Thanks to all of you for the help.
Guess I spoke a little too soon tho.
When I woke up this afternoon(been working night shift), Mrs.Moonpie had already taken the computer to someone to get it cleaned.

Thank you all for the advice.
