Wading the pass is always dangerous, but right after a storm that had the water churned up like today, is suicide. Condolences to the family. I know what they will be going through. We lost one of our sons when he was 20, 23 years ago.

Yes,that's why they were there.A fisherman found him yesterday evening.

Very sad & prayers for his friends and family.

I can swim like a fish but I avoid that area like the plague. If I do fish it I'm wearing a manual inflatable PFD. The sand can sink away in a second when you get near the current and guts.

Very sad indeed.

PFD and swim side stroke sideways to current.. those that panic try to swim back up current and they might only be 20' off the bank... but in fear, shock, or panic it's hard to think clearly. It has to be mentally practiced.

Coe's write about the sand edge, its steep and hard to get back onto.

Very sad. I don't know if there are any statistics, but SLP must be one of the most dangerous places at least on the Gulf Coast. Prayers for the family and wear your PFD's y'all.

It happens every year but you never get use to it. . Tragic .

I hate hearing about these. Prayers all around. PFDs would sure curtail a lot of grief.
