  • Trolling Motor battery

What's the best one? I haven't had good success with a few from Bass Pro.

Coe, I have an 18' Aluminum extra deep and wide hull and use a 24 volt 70lb Minn Kota motor.

I use 2 of the smallest size D34M.
Next larger would be the D27M
            Largest is the D31M.
            Bigger boat= bigger battery.
            Fiberglass boat = bigger battery.

Just make sure it has the (D) in the name.
If it doesn't it is a starting battery.

The ones I use for the trolling motor are the 34DM, they are dual purpose.

Go to Eagle battery on Hwy 6 in Alvin. The are rebuilt and last longer than new ones. Good people. I just bought a 2016 yellow top optima for $100.

I bought the O' Reilly's 27 marine heavy duty ($89). Specs on them are good. They weigh significantly more than others I have picked up.

I run a couple AGMs from west marine, whatever their in house brand is, I think they were $214 each. The smaller size because that's all I can squeeze in, have stood up well they, are about 5 years old and still kicking, I do think they are starting to fade slightly. I have an onboard charger that gets plugged in after every trip until they are fully charged and I think that helps a lot with any deep cycle battery.
