PSA: Watch out for snakes...

My wife hosted some girlfriends down in Jamaica Beach last weekend...Friday evening they went down to end of Bob Smith Dr to watch the sunset over the bay...down by the rocks/geo tubes at end of Jumbile Cove. As she was coming back up the rocks a baby rattle snake bit her on the heel.

To make a very long story somewhat short...she was transported to UTMB by Jamaica Beach's finest and it took a blood transfusion and 2 rounds of anti venom to get her stabilized. Spent 2 days in ICU and another day in a regular room under observation. We're back home and she's getting around much better but it was a sketchy couple of days.

Huge thanks to the JBVFD, EMS and the fine staff at UTMB for their professionalism and care.

Wow... glad to hear she is doing better! I got bit by a moccasin when I was 12 and it was almost fatal.

Glad she's doing better. Them snakes are everywhere. Nice pedicure she had. That does look like a baby diamondback-I only see one button.

Im so glad shes ok. Man you can hardly even see that little rattler on those rocks. We used to see them all over the island when I was a kid being stupid around the old forts and bunkers. I don't like snakes, not scared of them, just don't like them. Only good snake is a dead snake.
