  • Tournament Cheaters Never Win

So Im BSing with old Steve Brown yesterday and he tells me this story. Not sure if im getting it right but it basically goes like this. Someone very popular who knows Bastrop Christmas area is getting his wade on and doing well just before the weekend and he notices three (3) crab traps lined up where there usually isn't any crab traps. So out of curiosity he lifts the first trap and low and behold there is a very nice fat red just chilling in it. He goes to trap number two and you guessed it there is the trout and I can bet you will figure what type fish was in number three. Yep a nice big flounder. Now I tell you, when he told me this story I was blown away as to be honest, doing some crap like that has never even remotely crossed my mind. I cant believe someone would actually try and take the honors of a tourney and cheat at that level. I don't really do them for the money as much as for the bragging rights when I get to knock down a couple of the big boys from the leader boards. I would have filled a ziplock bag full of poop and stuffed a note in it for the guy when he comes to collect those fish if I had found them. I wish they could have found out who this jerk off is. What a looser.

You should have released the fish.

They did salt. He let all of them go and I think he crushed the traps

Proper way to handle that situation is to contact TPWD as soon as you find them. They will investigate and usually set up and wait to see who picks them up. There have been rumors lately of that going on but have not heard anyone actually finding anything up this way. There was the report a couple weeks ago of the same thing you mentioned being found down in South Texas before one of the tournaments. Guy who found them released the fish but called TPWD, they did come out and check on them and ended up ticketing the person who came to pick them up. Since the fish were not in them anymore they could only ticket for not properly tagging the traps. IT was the same weekend another guy was arrested in a tournament down there for cheating in a tournament before. Supposedly he shoved big croaker down the throat of some fish to be weighed. When they checked the stomachs the fish showed no signs of being digested at all. Bottom line is there is no place for that **** in fishing tournaments. Who ever is doing it needs to be caught and made famous.

Steve told me about the croaker issue and said they arrested that guy. Your right though. If his honor carries that cheap a price tag then he has bigger problems in life.

Dummy-he should shoved 2 oz lead weights instead of a croaker!! Well, maybe not, the lead might make a clunking noise!! I bet the cheater wanted Bernie to win the Dem POTUS Ticket. He'll burn some day-likely from a lead projectile.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

The real pros partially dissolve a variety of bait in hydrochloric acid and push the slurry down the fish's throat with a tube.

Numerous bass fisherman have gotten caught doing this one. I think one was fined over a $100k.
