I finally got a chance to hit the west end. With the tide movement so weak in East in East last week I decided to hit the West end a little and look for anything to make the current move a little better. Hit some shorelines and sand bars with top waters and caught some nice trout. Mostly waded so I definitely didn't take my iPhone with me.. I forgot it in my jacket on time in East Matty a long time ago. LOL. Anyway. The fish were holding tight to structure whether that was a gut or a sand pocket. Classic TroutSupport methods reading the sign to limit the amount of water that had to be worked through the find the fish.. slicks, active bait, and even had one set of gulls go nuts on us with the trout working under big white shrimp under the birds. In all, not a bad couple of days given the conditions of having super weak tides until almost 1pm, SW winds, and I hadn't been on the water in 3 months; to top it off, I fished a couple of areas that I'd never fished before. Ended up with over 16 trout and a couple of reds. 2 of the trout were in the mid twenties (not monsters, but great topwater fish this time of year).
Skitter walks, One knockers, watermelon bass assassins. Best topwater bite came with working the lures across the current and back with the current... It was a pain casting into that SW wind, but it paid off.
