Well guys we did pretty good for a second weekend. We were on the water at 6:30 and we only had two specs in the boat by 8:30. Eventually we were able to find more fish. The tide didn't start coming in until 8:30 and I figure that was the reason the bite was very slow at first. Just like last weekend most of our fish didn't come from working bait that was being tossed around it came from areas within 50-100 yards of the bait. I feel like most of the specs were held on ledges waiting for the bait to come to it. All of our hits came from working ledges except maybe two or three fish. We really had to grind it out but the fish were there. We had about 10 more we lost while fighting them. That really sucks but it happens. One of the fish we lost seemed like a massive trout which was very disappointing but there is always next time. I've primarily been a bait fisherman(shrimp, mullet, croaker) tossing the occasional jig or plug but have made the switch to fishing only lures this year. Is there something yall do to ensure you have better hooksets with lures? I don't like losing the big ones even though I would have released it I still wanted to see it.
