As the title says I can't afford a power pole, lol. But I made this at my friends shop on Friday and it worked like a charm on Sunday. The only thing missing was the fish! Lol its quiet, easy to set, and easy to get out. No chains rattling from the anchor and no dragging the anchor. I made it 7 ft long so I could use it in deeper water as well. Academy has them for 70 bucks I think? But the are only 5 ft. Best time wasted ever! Lol

Richg99 I made it from a scrap piece of steel, it was 10 ft long and 3/4 in thick. I grinded it down, cut it to size painted it with silver rustoleum and then drilled a hole through the top. Put an old shackle on it with a nut and bolt. Probably about a half day of work. I have an 18 ft alumacraft plus gear 2 decent sized kids my wife and I + 15 mile an hour winds on Sunday! The Cajun pole held great never moved.

Drill a hole and use a stainless anchor shackle. Sharpen the other end. I have a 12' piece of rope tied to the shackle and a loop big enough to run through the cleat and stretch over it. Been using that only for anchoring for at least 10 years."GET OFF MY REEF!"

Put a chisel point on end of rod, it will dig in in hard bottom better. I build 10' (the most popular), 2 of them will hold my 23' broadside in winds to 40 mph. The 10' clear the side of boat and with rope you can run a fish around boat.
