  • Blockade Runners Help Needed 1-30th-31st

Ok y'all, I've watched the weather forecast get WINDY for Saturday, plus we have low tides forecast for the morning. I've got an idea. I could use some help on Saturday from a chainsaw man. This means Willie if he can make it, though I'll definitely need someone who can change the blade on a chainsaw if I can't get someone to bring one with them.

We'll get over there and cut what needs to be cut. I'll take care of the fiberglass tank, the 2 PVC poles and the metal pole. Chainsaw man and assisitant will take care of the piling nubs and the 4 pilings we need cut up to haul. That should be only about a 30 minute job. Once that's done, y'all can spell me on the fiberglass tank. I'll make a light haul load or 2 if the seas aren't too bad. That night I'll have ribs on the pit if anyone wants to join.

Sunday will be the hauling day. Ideally I could use 4 guys to help. Should be able to knock it out in 4-5 hauls, less if I can get some done on Saturday. We would get to the site and 2 men would be there to help me load up the boat for a haul and 2 guys come to the ramp in another boat to help me unload. Same 2 guys take the truck load to the bonfire site on the beach while I head back to the camp for another load, then they wait for another load.

If this could happen we'll get it all in under the wire. I'll take some pics for the state and we'll celebrate with many beers and a good boil.

My next trip I'll take an entire day for just fishing, then get back to work on Blockade Runners. Thankfully there will be no more deadlines after Sunday. - Sandy

You and your chainsaw are the key to the whole deal Willie, and the Shoalwater will probably be a must in the morning with that north wind and the low tides I might not even be able to get the Mudda outta there.

We'll have to get to it early to make sure we have time to have the boil. If you can make it at 7:30, that would be great! Might even have time to fish if we get it all done.

It should be interesting Saturday morning at the boat ramp for sure, low tide is around 9:00am and 20+ mph NNW wind's starting early friday afternoon.

That's exactly what I saw. With the amount that we have to get done Willie, what do you think about making it a late start? Say noonish at the ramp?

Whatever you think, you da boss but you know me, I'll probably get there before that. You say noon then that's what it will be.

I may just be able to make it.

Exactly what I've learned Willie. I was planning on telling you noon and show up at 11. That should probably make it perfect timing.

Seriously, the Shoalwater with the tunnel and jackplate should be able to get out in just about any tide. The Mudda may need just a bit more water. So let's call it 11 for you, which will get you there at 10. That way the tide should be just about to turn around. I think the weather will be a lot like it was the day y'all coaxed me up the ladder.

If 007 can make it, that puts us at a minimum complement for Saturday, so anyone else that wants to brave the wind and cold, come on out. Looks like room for at least 2 more on Saturday night. I'll have the big heater runnin'. Sunday should be very nice for hauling. - Sandy
