  • What's the heaviest fish you've caught INSHORE

    Meaning inside the Jetties!!

Heaviest fish caught on the Robalo was a 70LB Black Drum caught in the Ship Channel.

Heaviest fish I've caught would also be a Black Drum at 60LB caught that same day. I've yet to have anything break the 70LB mark on the boat inshore.

Hopeful that it will happen soon though

Inshore? How heavy is a 47 inch bull red? I haven't weighed a fish since all the limits came out. Then there was the 5 foot blacktip, but I didn't weigh that either. I did eat it, and after that I weighed more.

Offshore? 205 lb. yellowfin tuna back in 1992. I think I have muscles that are STILL sore from that.

I caught a 50#+(it broke my cheap scale) black drum from the bank on a curado with 12# test. I was out with the step daughter about 5 years ago before my little one was born.

I don't know how much it weighed, or it's exact length but it was a huge Bull Red. It was back in the early 90s and no one had a good camera. I was hold it up with one hand in each gill plate and my hands were even with my shoulders. I'm not a tall guy 5'6" but his fishes tail was curled on the ground as I held it. It was well over 60 inches. I've not caught too many fish offshore as big as this beast.

Hooked a big drum thru the eye once while fishing Anuhuac Channel. I didn't weigh or measure, but it was too big for the net. Also, it didn't put up much of a fight because of the eye hook.
Caught a few black tips inside the jettys that went 5ft easy...hell of a fight. Again, no weight.
