  • Got the new boat! And a bit of an engineering problem.

Picked up the new boat yesterday afternoon. Can't wait to have her out on da bayou. I've still got to get all the paperwork done on my end to get her in my name etc. She's paid for and she'll be all mine once I pay back my pops.

I'm going to post all the pics I have of her, but first I want to post the pics of my engineering problem. My carport is way too low to put this baby in there. I'm thinking I'll have to shell out some bucks eventually to engineer a folding thingy for the windshield and grab bar. If anyone has any ideas, particularly James, do let me know. I do have a boat cover for the time being.

I have been thinking about a name, and I thought it would be appropriate to name her simply, "Blockade Runner". If anyone has another name they think would be appropriate, please post up.

i had a new grab rail put on my boat to fit under the bayou vista bridge. the windshield was removed and 7 inches cut off then ground down to smooth out the edges. it's not that expensive. congrats on the new boat.

It appears the easiest fix would be to unbolt the rail, (it should be bolted from the inside of the console) and it looks like two places on each side.
Drop the rail to the the right height and re-attach. You can use the old holes to get your measurement for the new ones, just measure center to center from top to bottom and get a measurement from the front of the console to each hole and both sides so it's lined up correctly. Drill the new holes, bolt it back on and put stainless bolts with finish washers in the old holes. It appears that the windshield is going to be high as well and I would think most glass shops that deal with plexiglass or lexan could cut it down to size for you. There are several different options but I think this would be the easiest and cheapest. Good luck with it and nice boat. Gater

carolina skiff makes an attachment for the windshield which makes it where you can take it off and reattach it very easily and as far as the grab rail goes you can either get tops n towers to hook you up($$$$) or replace it with smaller rails that run along side the edges of the console just some suggestions i hope that helps

I had the same problem with the poling platform on my Shallow Sport. It was 4" higher than my carport. I was able to raise the roof on my carport 6" to alleviate the problem. By the look of your pictures, you are not going to be able to raise your carport. Have hinges put on the grab rail, where you can fold it down. Will the windshield fit under, or is it to tall also? A buddy of mine hinged his grab rail and windshield so it would fit in his garage. Just my $.02 worth.
Why put off doing something today, when you can do it again tomorrow. LIKE FISHING!!

Great looking boat. I thought long and hard about getting one myself.

Easiest solution is to 6" wheels for the trailer.

I would go for lowering the railing and triming the glass.

I wonder if you could lower the trailer jack and push it under the port?
Yeah, and all the muchachas they call me big pappa, when I throw pesos their way!

Yep...Jason could fix that right up....or.....you could just keep that thing at my house.
