Hello all. I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Brandon, and I fish out of a Waterman 18. I primarily fish west bay and am always looking for new fishing partners (especially those who can pole or are willing to learn!). I plan on fishing the big trout tourney so hopefully I will get a chance to meet some of you in person. I am a software sales rep who is in the process of getting my Captains license and want to focus solely on fly fishing west bay, I am not trying to take business from any other guides on this site. This is going to be somewhat ridulus offer but before i finalize my captains license i am looking for some brave souls who will venture our with me and let me pole them around while we try to do some sight casting. Since i dont have my captains license this of coarse would be free of charge, but i do enjoy Shiner . The fact is my wife and friends are too much of a bubble and i am trying to prepare myself for when i start taking out clients. In fact, i would love to take out some of the guides on here and pick your brains. Its a great offer, full day of fishing on a technical poling skiff at no charge. I prefer to only fish one person on the boat so we can go as shallow as possible. If you are interested, please shoot me a pm.

    Tight Lines,
    Brandon

              Howdy,

              Brandon,

I'd like to take you up on your offer. I'm a pretty experienced freshwater fisherman (mailly spinning with some fly fishing). I have just started fishing saltwater and want to learn as much as I can. Let me know if you want to take somebody out and teach them a few tricks.

welcome aboard. Good luck on getting your license. If I had any salt water experience I would take you up on the offer but there are others here that would be a better fit for what you are trying to do. Keep us up date on your progress as I always use the offer a day on the water with a guide as the "carrot on the end of the stick" to get my oldest son to try to make A's in college.

... anytime you want to go play in the shallows & chase tail let me know! I've been fly fishing West Bay for 15 years now and one thing I've learned west bay marsh is full of oyster and shell so be prepared for gel coat repairs

I'm running an 1860 flat bottom, TXSHOCKWAVE here on the site also runs a similar rig but he's running polymer on the bottom of his, maybe he can post up a photo of the damage already... just seeing it makes me want polymer... We both run surface drives, both getting our captains licenses too... you'll see us running around a lot this summer but don't follow us you won't make it

Let me know if you want to advertise here. West Bay is a great place to fly fish!

Thanks for the welcome. And yes unfortunately I have had to learn by braille a few times so i have a few gel coat repairs that need to happen. I have been focusing on 3 different areas in the bay to learn how to fish them in all conditions so I am learning my paths. I have a JP but i dont have a tunnel, so I typically dont run WOT in less then 1 ft of water. I tested out a lot of boats and selected this one on its capabilities as a poling skiff. I have been daydreaming about a side project invovlving a jon boat with a surface drive so i would love to take a ride in yours sometime if the chance comes up.
