John Humbert has a post on the poc area and some apparent fish kill there.
Yeah, I saw that. There's no way the bay water temps were in the mid-30's.
I just doesn't get that cold!

Current temps in San Antonio bay:

            Kenny

I don't know how long you been in JB but in 83' and 89' the canals in Tiki and Bayou Vista froze solid all the way across. Granted it got down to 17 in 83' and 11 in 89' saltwater will still freeze. The numbers from POC are correct, those are surface temps from Pringles and a few other back lakes. Gater

The shallow water, especially where it's protected, will freeze. A good guage for the overall Galveston complex is the two bouys in upper galveston, Morgans and Eagle. This morning Eagle was showing 36, I believe. James Plaag called the Outdoor Show this morning and said that his canal in Tiki was still holding around 41 if I remember correct. We really need the warm up to get started. Even better was hearing TPWD biologist Lance Robinson on Pike's show today, they will be out surveying tomorrow. Plaag said he was going to take a spin around West this afternoon, and report back to Mickey in the morning. That should be very interesting, given that he knows exactly where they should be. Well worth waking up early tomorrow to hear that discussion.

Where do we find the biologist reports when they post them? I only get down to that area to fish 3 or 4 times a year so I'm very interested in what the spring season will be like so I can plan accordingly.

I will talk to TPWD this week and see if the information will be publicly available. Post up any news that I can find.

No dead fish from HW West to Karankawa checked all inlets to West Bay. Some ice sheets moving from back lakes water depth in a lot of areas was 4" the Gator-Tail was loving it!

Well, I'm sure Al Gore will tell you that global warming can sometimes cause severe cold as well. !
