  • High Pressure

Any of you ever catch numbers of trout under high pressure conditions? I have never caught much of anything under clear blue skies. What has been your experience? Considering walking in tomorrow somewhere, just not sure about the pressure.

I've never had a lot of luck on Bluebird days, but I have hooked a few. If you have the opportunity why not go for it? At least you'll be outside on a beautiful day.

The best bite I have on blue sky, high pressure days is early.I mean putting on the headlamp and walking in at 3-4 am.Those fish are going to eat before daylight.Their best opportunity will be at night also.No bright sun to give themselves away and the bait is with out a doubt most active at night. Many times I have been walking out while people are on their way in right at sunrise, and by then the bite is over.Light winds tonight, good tidal movement should set up for a good bite tonight and early in the morning.I'll have my headlamp on with a black spook ready for work at 3:30-4am tomorrow. Now,over the years I have noticed that much of my success during these conditions are in the dark when the winds are light, but different things work for different people, but walking in during high pressure days....I'm fishing at night, period!

OK FLAPPER.. What do you think...If a guy hangs out at a bar until about 2 or so, should you take the chance of quick nap and risk the possibility of sleeping till 10am; or just stay up and have another drink or two and wait till 3:30 am?

Don't take a nap!,you won't wake up till 10,like you said. When they kick you out of the bar,go straight to the walk in spot. Now that I think about it,I may close down the Sand Bar tonight and make the short drive to the spot.

                    LMAO! ive done it before....

when you lay down for a short nap, you wake up feeling like you have the flu---if you wake up.

now, you could always be like Kenny and go to bed before the sun sets on the couch watching reruns of "As the World Turns",

Fish early and quit around 8:30-9. That's been my experience.

I have too..It seems like every time I do the wind is blowing 25mph out of the southwest. Makes for a lovely morning.

Ya, been there, done that, but much of a partier anymore. Been my experience that a high pressure is not good for fishing. Blue bird skies are great for bay ducks on the reefs, not in the marsh. Falling and low pressure are the best times to go because the game can sense the change and is active to gorge themselves to survive the event...but you never know unless you go. Beautiful day tomorrow, just like today, but seemed a little windy...hope you smoke em!
