I am a blood sucking lawyer and I do wills and related documents. You may be surprised to learn that many people with small estates do not need a will at all. Both of my parents are deceased and neither had a will. As they got older they added either myself or my brother as co-owners of assets including bank accounts, vehicles etc. These simple steps can save a lot of time and money. I am happy to give more detailed advice at no charge.

I charge $350 for a will packet that also includes a power of attorney, a medical power of attorney, and a living will. There is nothing wrong with trying to do it yourself. If you go that route I will review it for you at no charge. I may however require you to give me a hot spot or 2 to catch some trout. Hope this helps.

Google TEXAS SMALL ESTATE AFFIDAVIT and PROBATE FOR A SMALL ESTATE IN TEXAS. I can email you a simple will form (no minor children)-just pm me your email address. If I can attach to a PM I will. Holographics can be an issue-most do not provide an Executor w/o bond, etc. but they certainly are legal in Texas. It only takes a few minutes to make a simple will generally. Any complex should consult a Tax Planning/Estate Attny or Probate Attny.

All good stuff! Thanks to everyone who has helped. I'll be taking care of this over the next couple months. I'll be doing a living will and DNR too. If Mom hadn't had one she'd still be hooked up to machines living the hell she most feared.
