From your description I am sure if you didn't help him when you did, he wouldn't have survived.
      Glad you were there.

Good job Jerry saving the guy. "He decided he'd swim to the shore"; that shows he wasn't firing on all cylinders.

Jerry, you are a hero buddy, that simple. That man was very close to passing out from hypothermia, and likely would have been the end of him.

Now that I've said that. I can't believe how many inept kayakers there are out there. At lease the multi-thousand dollar investment culls some of the morons away from boat ownership, but it seems any pop-dick with a few hundred bucks can get out in deep water and get themselves into trouble on a yak. I see it all the time. Yakkers paddling down channels with no regard to boat traffic, fishing at night in commonly traversed areas with no light paying no mind to the sound of an approaching motor, Heading out to rigs in a howling norther. Some DA even got stuck in the marsh behind BV and called the CG to come get him.

If you can't get back in your kayak from water deeper than you can stand you have no business on one.

This is coming from someone who kayak fishes 90% of the time.

Great looking out. His core was obviously depleted and could have gone into shock at any moment cramped and drown. You guys saved that man. Funny how God points us in the direction he wants us in sometimes.
