  • Dining via boat - your input requested please

Sorry to ask such a basic question but I'm having a hard time locating good intel on what's available to reach via boat for food and drink. I want to take the family and friends out for a basic cruise and grab a bite to eat on occasion and simply don't know where all to go. Boat is located in the west bay at Lafitte's Cove. I obviously know that Waterman's is there but I'm looking for other and better options.

All input is welcomed and much appreciated. PLEASE don't hold back on anything that you think is worthwhile to know for good ideas for the typical family or friends cruisin' session. That could include restaurants but also just good places to go and how to get there best, routes, etc.

    Thanks!

Sand Bar at Sea Isle with a nicer restaurant upstairs too.

Never been to Floyd's . Just never thought about it . Does that new marina in Offats have a restaurant ? It must . What's the name of the marina . Those four places would be the choices I believe .

Stingaree over in bolivar but that's a heck of a run - maybe not for an SCB though.

Many thanks guys. I am a novice in the bay and trying to learn my way around. Last weekend we went straight across the bay and entered the ICW and rode down to Offat's and back just for fun. Did not make any stops but will check out Floyd's for sure.

                  A few questions -
1- I know there are items to watch out for but is it necessary to travel up and down the ICW or can you head through the bay to Sea Isle or up to Offat's for that matter without going all the way across to the other side of the bay?
2 - Is there a restaurant with docking at the very end of Offat's? I haven't checked it out but it looks like there may be as I drive in on 61st.
3 - What about Moody Gardens? Is it possible to dock there and hang out / grab some food and drink?

thanks again! Really appreciate your input and look forward to getting up the learning curve!

You can head down the bay from where you are to sea isle. Just get out in the middle and head south. Channel is clearly marked into sea isle with PVC. If you're running to offats there are a few more sticky spots but you can do it. Google earth it and check out the obstructions. Safe way is always the intracoastal.

Not sure about restaurants at the entrance to offats. As far as I know they're all towards the back. Stay to the left in there and run along the ne shoreline. Very shallow outside of that till you get back in there.

And I don't think there is a boat dock at moody gardens but I could be wrong. Never noticed one while in there though.

Get out on a low tide day and mark obstructions. Really helps.

Galveston Country Club on Stewart by the bay. May want to call them 1st and see where you may dock.

$200 with tip for 4 people for lunch, endless mimosas and bloody Mary's. We did order a dozen oysters. I thought it was good but very pricey. We ate outside last Saturday.

                            Really appreciate all the input.

Where can one dock around Fisherman's Wharf or near Pier 21?

We went down there yesterday but couldn't tell where it was ok to dock. Harbor House had some overnight pay slips it appeared and then there is the area where all of the commercial and fishing boats dock near Katie's Seafood but I was not sure if I could just tie off somewhere to grab a bite.

                            Thanks again!

scb71, not sure where you are located at but there are some other places that come to mind if you are out fishing/riding around and want to grab something to eat. Here are some that I can remember.
If you are in the Galveston Channel and want to hit one of the tourist spots you can try the place that's right behind Tillman Fertitta's yacht. I forget the name of the place but they have an outside deck area where folks can sit and eat. When I have been down there snagging Flounder I have just pulled the Skeeter right up to the deck and crossed over the rail to grab a cerveza. The manager there usually wants to look inside the box and check out the flatties!
Bubba's Shrimp Palace in San Leon: They have a dock you can pull up to as well.
Louis' Bait Camp in Bayou Vista: Pretty good eats and cold beer. Located on Highland Bayou on Hwy 6. Have a ramp you can launch at as well. Good burgers and other stuff.

I am sure that I am missing several of the other places I have stopped at but these come to mind right now.
