HAR ! Time slips away when fishing , eh ? I bet you ended up feverishly smoking a pack , bloodshot eyes . Surprised that you didn't finally hurl yourself on her with an exasperated howl , fillet knife in hand . Canal home dock lights pop to life , perplexed and frightened heads peer into the erie , haunting , dim froth reflecting moonlight , silent witness to the demented slashing and thrashing as distant sirens grow closer . I'm not even drinking , HAR!GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. L, 1 ST TEXAS INFANTRY, HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE, C.S.A. : S.C.V.

Decades ago, when my uncle had a place on Caney Creek, we did a lot of night fishing under the lights.
One evening I was sent to get some shrimp from the bait camp 5 houses down.
The grandma of the clan was fishing under the lights there with a long cane pole and a huge mullet for bait.
I asked her if she was fishing for one of those huge gar that I saw.
She said nope,......Trout.
I smirked,....yeah, right.
I got the shrimp and left.
As I was walking back to our pier, I hear splashing and see her pole doubled over.
I ran back over to see what she caught.
It was the biggest trout I have seen to date.
