I am contemplating the purchase of a 15' Boston Whaler Montauk. In your educated opinions, how safe would a boat of this size be in SLP and near shore. I assume with an 8" draft it would be fine in the bays. I'd appreciate your feedback.

It'll beat the heck outta ya but never really sink. Boats flip pretty easy in a wave if ya get crossways to it in the surf. Beats wading the bay shorelines."Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

I've got a 15' 5" whaler sport. I've had it on the oyster leases n the middle of galvo bay to the shorelines of east bay to the holes in chocolate bayou and never had one issue. Dryest riding, safest little boat I've ever seen or rode in. 50 horse old evinrude gets me where I need to be. Jmho.

When family was small, had a 13 footer, It was a do-all boat. Hunted with it, took it offshore several times, it was like a small tank. Never doubted it, even offshore! The only reason I got rid of it was because the boat got too small for 2 growing boys who were not the best with their casting abilities...

Dang , I've been in SLP , cold pass / SLP intersection , the shoals outside SLP , surf , the mouth of Kemah Channel on a ripping outgoing tide , and the mouth of the Brazos River in a 15 foot kayak . A lot of those times I thought I would capsize and the anal spincter effect was a 10 out of 10 , but by the grace of God I'm here today . I think you can be safe enough in a 15 foot Whaler . May not be as pleasant as a bigger boat , but survivable .GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. L, 1 ST TEXAS INFANTRY, HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE, C.S.A. : S.C.V.
