  • Brown Pelican

Off the endangered list after almost 40 years!

Population dropped when birds would eat fish w/ DDT and during breeding would cause the thinning of the shells when the laid their eggs and therefore incomplete incubation.

It still protected under Migratory Bird Treaty Act but just off the Endangered List.

Good stuff to hear. There are so many of those things now it's hard to believe they were ever endangered.

Random fact of the day: Brown pelicans don't die of old age. The limiting factor in their life span is the fact that their retinas eventually detatch from dive-bombing the water throughout their lives. Blind, they die of starvation.

Hey those dang Brown Pelicans caused a $2MM Bugatti to crash into Omega bay (at least that what the driver is blaming his stupidity on)!!
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

That's a hell of a way to die. I'm glad they've made a comeback, eventhough they sure can leave a mess behind.
