I had to take my buddy to the ER last Friday afternoon. We were in my boat in West Bat near Bay Harbor going less than 10mph when a wave hit the front of the boat. I had asked him to sit up front so we can cut the waves better. Without adding all the details on what I could have done better he ended up with bruised ribs, broken arm, 5 stiches under his chin and broken a tooth. Fortunately, he landed in the boat. Just a reminder to all those out there to put on a life jacket when the weather gets bad. And to always check the weather right before you head out - not just the day before like I did. This could have been much worse. You can't swim if you can't breathe and it only take a hard fall to knock your breath out.

ouch!
Second reminder -- When you're buddy asks you to sit in the front tell him to bug off.
Glad it wasn't any worse than it was. I got sent flying into the air going out of the freeport jetties one time. Fished all day with broken ribs. I keep my arse in the chair now.
Shut up and FISH!!

That is something I've learned fishing in a flat bottom weight distribution is key!
I'm glad yall were able to both reach safety and hope your buddy has a speedy recovery!Last edited by WestEndAngler; October 28, 2009, 06:43 PM.We are West End Anglers, a saltwater tribe!

Sorry for your buddy-hope he gets well soon. Thanks for the reminder-we all could use reminders and need to remember we are not invincible."Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

Bad outcome to a fishing trip, for sure ! That's too bad. But, thanks for the input, we all need to be more careful each time out. I hope your buddy gets better soon.GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. L, 1 ST TEXAS INFANTRY, HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE, C.S.A. : S.C.V.
