    was the skippers name on that snapper boat"Gus"? I worked one in the 60's with ol Gus and we used bicycle lines. when we weren't fishing we were gillin and guttin and icing down. That hold on his old boat was the size of the Astrodome or so it seemed after fishing for 3 days and nites. That old man navigated with his watch and RPM's and a hand held compass. He knew exactly where the snapper were and how many knots to go down to catch them. He supplied our eats and drinks. Water and sardines and Viennas.

    That was a nice fish and to toss it back!!! true sportsman for sure.

      No this was in the 80's and I was on my old mans boat. He shrimped in the summer and when he wasn't oystering in the winter he was catching snapper. We had the same diet on the boat though if you add in spam and potted meat. Lol
