  • Lost my bestfriend today..

Today i had to put down my bestfriend cassie.. She was a 13 year old black lab, ive had her since i was 2 & was the best dog i have ever owned. I have always heard the saying "A mans bestfriend is his dog" and never took it in to reality till today, when i had to put here down today from old age. All i can do now is kept my head up high and think about the good times i spent with her on the water & out in the fields. I know she is in a much better place now, just keeping a eye on me from up above. Rest in peace Cassie girl. Love ya

Hate to hear about your best friend. I've had a number of best friends. It is always hard when you had them that long. Lord Bless.

Sorry for your loss Drue. You and Cassie had a lot of good times together. It's always tough losing a family member, especially when you've known them your whole life. You did the right thing and that 's very hard sometimes. I wish you the best.

Prayers sent. I hope these words can help to start mend a heavy heart.

              The Last Battle:

If it should be that I grow frail and weak
and pain should keep me from my sleep,
Then you must do what must be done,
For this--the last battle--can't be won.
You will be sad I understand,
Don't let grief then stay your hand,
For on this day, more than the rest,
Your love and friendship must stand the test.
We have had so many happy years,
What is to come can hold no fears
You'd not want me to suffer, so.
When the time comes, please let me go.

Take me to where to my needs they'll tend,
Only, stay with me till the end
And hold me firm and speak to me
Until my eyes no longer see.
I know in time you will agree
it is a kindness you do for me.
Although my tail its last has waved,
From pain and suffering I have been saved.
Do not grieve that it must be you
              Who has to decide this thing to do;
              We've been so close--we two--these years,
Don't let your heart hold any tears.

Man, that is tough. I along with many others have been in your shoes and can relate. Enough to make a grown man cry for sure. Blessings to you, and I pray you find another best friend, when the time is right.

Man that is a sad sad picture.
I have a Black Lab and I swear I love him so much I think I can feel for you.
Everybodys dogs are special but there is something truly magic with Labs.

                        GOD SPEED, Cassie.

Drew- I don't know your Cassie but as a dog lover and long time Lab owner, I can appreciate what you have gone thru, I've had to do that too many times, none of them were easy. Just remember the good times when she ran, played and worked with you- the memories never die. And remember that God is dog spelled backwards!
