Ruminate on this story , Harvey . This spring I waded an east bay cove with 4 experienced , good fishermen . They mainly tossed soft plastics and top waters . I whooped their a-s , catching more and bigger trout . They all shook my hand and congratulated me on a fine performance . I was taken aback not expecting a " I won the tournament " response . These guys aren't use to being out fished and are competitive . Mid morning the fat kid ( me ) felt his fat cells shrinking a little bit and I went to the boat to eat . Afterwards I got in the water and cast my fatboy / Corky and got a hookup . One threw up his hands and said " we have fished that area for 20 minutes without a strike while you ate and we move on and you walk there and hookup on your first cast " . Every dog has his day . That was mine . I'm not a super duper fisherman , but that day corkys and fat boys ruled .

I picked me up an original corky this morning, my friend. After much studying I selected a black back, pearl sides and and light chartreuse belly. After you showed me how they catch I'm sold. Don't expect me to give up on my confidence baits but I'm not kennel blind. As far as your angling skills you can fish with me anytime.

Plugger the sea fog is covering up my island. Hope termo's GPS keeps us from getting socked in and lost tomorrow morning. We got a long boat ride to those little killer reefs.

I've been wearing out the trout on that pattern.

used a corky most of the day and nothing. switched to my favorite cocahoe and two reds in a row on the way in. go figure. lol
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.
