Cool! Never caught one. Saw one dead in the diversionary a few years ago during a freeze though.Originally posted by Trussman View PostWe set up the lights last night and came home with 14 nice specs and 5 big ole sandys. No trophies just a typical night. But the guy next to us caught a snook. I have only seen a small fry that I have caught in the cast net. Does anyone else catch them in the far west end?Shut up and FISH!!

I've never caught a snook, but I've heard of them being caught at the Surfside jetties and at SLP. The SLP county park used to have a beautiful one in their aquarium, but the filter system went haywire one night and the fish died.

So , why are we seeing snook here . Not typical as far as I know . Anyone know the environmental conditions needed for snook ? So , is or area morphing into a different system ?GEORGE A. BRANARD, COLOR SERGEANT, CO. L, 1 ST TEXAS INFANTRY, HOOD'S TEXAS BRIGADE, C.S.A. : S.C.V.

I've caught a couple of them at the mouth of the brazos area.
They're showing up more and more like mangrove snapper because our waters are getting warmer. Same reason flounder are getting thinner.
Somewhere I read they will not tolerate water cooler than 50deg.West End Anglers - You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Well I wish I could say that it was released. If i had been the one who caught it then it would have been released. The guy who did catch it didn't even know what it was. Of course when he asked me if I knew what it was and i told him what a big deal it is to catch one, all he wanted to know was if it was good to eat. I was so sad when he dropped it in the cooler.TRUSSMAN

they are actually good to eat. I've kept a few over the years but I fish for them down along the border. If I catch one up here, I toss them back.
