I've used Andes, Stren High Impact, Big Game in 12 and 15lb on one baitcaster. They all work for me. I have 30lb Power Pro on the other baitcaster. I use the same tactics on mono as I do on braid. Haven't seen any difference. I use either clear or green on mono and green on braid. I don't use a leader. I tie directly to the jig head or top water. I believe it's a matter of preference. What works for someone, might not work for others. If one feels comfortable with the line, they will catch fish. Hope this helps.

Suffix Performance #20 green braid and 18"- 20# fluorocarbon leader for loop knots and lack of visibility (if you tangle up on a reef, the knot will generally fail if you use the same test line and leader, therefore saving your high-dollar braid). I spray my reel and line with "REAL MAGIC" after every use. Little expensive but does wonders for the reel and the line.

I use reel magic before and after.

I spool all three of my reels with stren 12# lo-vis green mono. One 8.00 dollar spool does all three and never have any line issues. Same line since I bought my first baitcaster in 1974.

30lb Power Pro on everything, either regular or super slick...color doesn't matter to me....I do tie on a 20/25lb leader about 5 ft long...I switch to a 30lb leader in the winter when we start fishing heavier deeper structure for big trout...I fished with mono for probably 25 years, switched to braid about 6 or 7 years ago...cast better, way better sensitivity for soft plastics and corkys, and less backlashes...for me. I used to change out my Pline mono every few weeks when I was fishing a lot, I can go years with a spool of braid before I have to change the line...

Trilene 12# low vis green mono on my bait casters; just switched to braid on my spinning; haven't used it enough to comment. Pretty sure my line has never been the difference in landing a fish or not - it's always my lack of skill!

Pretty much the same setup for me but with a 2 to 3 ft leader in 20 to 30# depending on situation. Throwing in less than ideal water clarity...I go qith a quickswirl direct tied to the braid.

Yes or with a little mono backing.

                                Line?

I put a wrap of electric tape on the spool first then the braid. I have also used masking tape. I used to use mono backing but I don't like having the knot in the wraps available to catch on line as it unwinds.
