  • Dickinson Memorial inscription - comments requested

All y'all have been so supportive of Abraham's Eagle project, and now that it's nearly "rubber meeting the road" time for ordering stones, he wanted to get some feedback on the inscription. Please give us your constructive feedback... (Once it's done, it's rather permanent.)

For all this nation’s veterans, and especially for those of the City of Dickinson:

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.” – John F. Kennedy

“In peace the sons bury their fathers, but in war the fathers bury their sons.” - Croesus

To all who have served, and especially to those who have paid the price and born the burden of preserving our liberty, a grateful nation can never give enough thanks. In humble gratitude, this marker is dedicated to their memories, to remind all that “these dead shall not have died in vain…”
Your comments will help him finalize his inscription, and soon the stones will be ordered.

I've never liked the Croesus quote as there are also a many young sons that have watched their fathers laid to rest during war.

I do believe the other two are very approprate.

      I like the 3rd one....

To all who have served, and especially to those who have paid the price and born the burden of preserving our liberty, a grateful nation can never give enough thanks. In humble gratitude, this marker is dedicated to their memories, to remind all that “these dead shall not have died in vain…

But I like it like this...

Dedicated to all who have served and carried the burden of preserving our freedom & liberty; to those who have paid the ultimate price, a grateful nation can never repay (give enough thanks). In humble gratitude, this marker is dedicate to their memories, to remind all that.... (I'm not crazy about the ending... "dead shall not have died in vain")

But hey if those are the top 3 choices and your asking us I like #3...
