  • Anybody undergo this back pain procedure?

North American Spine has a procedure called accurascope that I found online. I have found a lot of good and bad reviews and information and am wondering if anybody on the board had this done and could give me some feedback. Pain management Dr. Redko in Houston performs it.

    Thanks,
    Scott

My father had something done at a pain clinic where they did multiple injections along his spine to manage pain caused from bulging and ruptured discs - not sure what it was called but it really worked.

Have u tried yoga. It really helps me. If u get a good beginner instructor, they will tell u do to your limitation. It has helped my back, neck, shoulders, relax, and more limber. I've been going for 3 years. I still do the beginners, and also the advance. Lord Bless.

Vicodin and Soma works for me-plus Prednisone when flare up happens. Those cortisteroid shots sometimes work, sometimes don't-never worked for my back pain issues.

X2 on what Jerry said. When you get my age it's the difference between going to catch 'em or laying on the couch.

The meds wont "treat" the prob. I am dealing with back pain since late 2011. Guy that I work with says shots wear off after a month or so then its back to having some days better than others. My spine dr suggested that i go physical therapy 6 times before talking about surg. With new insurance each one is $100 so I'm out on that. Simple stretching seems to take the edge off( one of those yoga balls at Walmart is pretty cheap) so I can see how yoga would help. it also depends on what happened to cause the back pain may have nerve damage or something pressing a nerve that will need corrective surgery

My dad and brother-in-law both have had surgery on their backs and they regret it. They are in more pain now, then before they had their surgeries.

Yoga is probably the best way to relieve the pain. I use the TRX to stretch my back out and work on my core. If you have a stronger core you'd be amazed how much better your back would feel.

X3 on what Jerry said. Meds are the way to go. Take a few somas and hit the boat ramp. When those don't work just rub some dirt on it and have a few cool ones!! Life is good !!

I can't speak from personal experience, but I've never met a soul who had back surgery and didn't regret it.

My GF had 3 neck surgeries and 6 back surgeries. The 6 back surgeries resulted from 1 surgery-the dickhaid doctor/hospital gave her MRSA. He had to re-open the original incision 5 times to irrigate and clean out the infection-hospitalized for 10 days-not even a "Sorry" from the POS surgeon and I got to spend 6 months hooking her up to IVs twice a day-once at 4 am every farging day and once again at 6 pm every farging day. Focker almost killed her. BTW, with Tort Reform, the docs and hospitals can almost kill you w/o recourse by the patient. I think it is $250,000 max and that's if ya die.

I have 2 herniated disks and I'll lay in bed for days, take steroids (prednisone) and muscle relaxers and pain pills before I'll let some doctor try to kill me.

                      Back surgery= last resort.

                      Good luck.

Anyone look into acupuncture for back pain? My sister-in-law was stationed in S. Korea or a while and ran triathlons, she got lower back pain from impact and locals told her to try it, she tells me it works but im a little gun shy about a few dozen needles in my back.

Acupuncture does work in some cases and it is worth a try.

I tried acupuncture once a long time ago. I thought I would feel the needles. At least I couldn't feel them. I had about 10 in me. I looked at them and was amazed that he had all of them in. He said my ying and yang were out of place. Felt pretty good after that. Hope this helps. Lord Bless.

I had it done around the first of last year. Best decisionI ever made. I can't believe I waited so long. I was a little worried aboutgetting my spine worked on. I was on med’s for years and it just got worse. Idon't know about this North American Spine place. I had mine done by a big timedoctor at Methodist who works on a lot of the pro athletes in Houston. He camehighly recommended from a friend. He didn’t really want to do it as all thetest were telling him my back wasn’t that bad. I said Doc I can’t take it anymore;you’ve got to do something. So he agreed to do it. I think I could get his namebut you better have top shelf insurance or be rich. I have the former.
