  • Saturday's Report

Saturday was looking good up until 4:30 AM when we were about to leave the house for the ramp. My Dad & I were fishing the HAPL Tournament and had everything ready to go the night before. I turned on the car and and he said he didn't have his wading boots and walked back to the house. I jumped out remembering I had grabbed a pair and walked inside. Of course, I close the car door and when we return we are locked out of the now running truck just sitting in the driveway.

Completely upset at the entire situation now faced us, all rods and tackle locked safely inside the truck. I was very tempted to shatter the window to gain entry but that was not reasonable. I tried for an hour waiting on AAA to get there, I had 6-7 clothes hangers, an old rod blank that's now in pieces lol.

The AAA guy had the right tools and had the door opened in 2 minutes and was back on his way. We, were finally able to head to the launch now being 6:20 AM and another 20 minute drive in front of us.

We started our wade late due to the lock out and completely missed the bite. We moved into some other areas and managed to pick up 2-3 trout, one was lost at the boat and my Dad got a nice Flounder. We scratched around the rest of the morning working different areas to no avail.

I like these bull tides only for driving the Gator-Tail around. We didn't find a sand bar or oyster reef that stood in our way yesterday and believe me we hit them all

It was a fun day on the water minus the mishap in the morning good to get out with the old man and both get some fish.

Nice flounder. I know exactly how you felt, I locked my keys in my truck last week and tried everything to get them out. Even considered breaking my window too. Called locksmith and about an hour later he got them out.

Not a good way to start a fishing trip but glad you got out.

I did that once but having Onstar and the iPhone app, I just logged in on the phone and sent a command to open the door. Worked like a champ.

I let my OnStar lapse last year and I would have had to press the button to activate it for them to send the unlock signal lol.

My Dad actually caught that flattie. He horsed it up and it spit the hook and hook re-embedded itself in the gill plate somehow and I was able to net it.

                Thanks for the report Coe!
Found a few down at the Pass on Thursday(sorry, I forgot the report so I'll tag onto Coe's). Started out short striking my pink skitter so I switched to an electric chicken mirrolure then hung one(10 minutes...no bites),switched to an electric chicken corky devil then hung one(10 minutes...no bites)....then 1 hr and no bites. made a power wade to another spot and switched to a chickenboy 4" chicken on a chain and strung a flounder then 2 more small trout. Saw a buddy running the guts and flagged him down...after drinking half his beer, we went to the Sand Bar and had a burger!
High water from the storm last week had them scattered...gonna try again Tuesday morning....Chowing on the fish tonight!

If it smells like fish....you know I've been there!

Time with DAD is precious. Wish I could still fish with mine. He's been gone since '92. Enjoy the time with him. Great memories. He taught me how to fish and hunt. Now I'm teaching others of what he taught me. His memories still continue. Nice fish. Time with DAD is even better. Lord Bless.

I agree with Silver Wolf, time IS precious in spending quality time with ones Dad. Mines been gone since 98, really sucks cuz all we did was fish, drink & chase tail, he was a trip. Way to go Coe, you'll remember that for a very long time.

Sorry you had to leave before we handed out the door prizes Coe. I am sure you and your Dad were gonna win a Yeti, gator hunt, chronarch or curado. There's always next year! Thanks for coming.
