West Bay Gators...

I see 'em almost everyday, as mating season has them out and about in daylight. They pulled an 8 footer off a neighbors front porch a few weeks ago.
The beachfront gator reminds me of some years ago when a 10' gator set up camp in Rockports Little Bay and every Game Warden and local LE officer in the area was onsite for crowd control and futile attempts to wrangle the big boy. He was very photogenic and allowed people to ease up and take photos with his head held up out of the water... seemed to be enjoying all the attention and was not afraid of the crowd, ski boats and jet skis. LE's were not too amused and kept barking at people to GET BACK!
Gator finally just turned and slowly swam off and presumably out of the ski basin. Had no interest in the chicken on a rope the wardens kept pitching his way... probably not his first rodeo. It was something you had to see to believe!"You've got to think lucky. If you fall into a mudhole, check your back pocket, you might have caught a fish" - Darrell Royal

In 88' & 89' when I worked in Beaumont I often fished the ANWR and did see a couple there. Also fished with a guide some (I think the name was Jerry Norris) and one of his favorite spots was a place called Keiths Lake and that place was full of gators.

There was a big one about 5 years ago that was spotted at the entrance to Mud Cut...believe it was there for a few days! A 10ft gator doesn't concern me near as much as a 6ft bull shark, and even those I don't think too much about...now a 1-2ft stingray on the other hand!
Then there is the dreaded nighttime....I don't even know what you call this thing, but it can't be good!
