Terrible. I was really hoping all the commotion I witnessed as I left there last night was the finding of the body of the unfortunate young man from the night before. People out in the water everywhere there last afternoon/evening, very few wearing PFDs, including young kids; treating the place as if it were a neighborhood wading pool. I tried telling quite a few about the dangers; some seemed to pay attention and others looking at me as if to say: "who is that stupid old man who wears a life jacket in waist deep water"

There are signs everywhere warning people. Some people are just plain stupid. It really pizzes me off that they put their kids in danger like that. If an adult wants to make a stupid decision, it's on them. But when their stupidity puts kids in danger, it borders on criminal negligence.

To be honest, I have never thought the signs there were either numerous enough, explicit enough or strong enough. I am generally opposed to more laws encroaching on individual freedoms, but wonder if maybe some kind of State Statute with regards to hazardous areas might be in order. Such as the: the parents of minor children, that allow said children to violate the warning signs are subject to criminal prosecution.

One uninformed decision and the affects on the family are ever lasting. I will say prayer for the family.

Don't look good a friend of mine just gave a traffic report from Galveston Island to Monroe st. Lots of cars heading south. My guess is having fun + beer + water + current = more victims.

Two kayak fishermen almost drowned right in front of Jamaica Beach earlier today but were rescued. They both took a bunch of water in the rough surf.

That's why I don't fish on holiday weekends. Be out there wading and a drunk boater not seeing me .
