He is swimming. Search in progress. I happened to be out at slp and see the police roll up and flipped on VHF.

I was there at first light this morning. The USCG Helicopter was still searching. Really is sad. At least I convinced three young ladies that were camping there and getting ready to go in the water, that they would be better off moving their camp up the beach towards Surfside and play in the water in the surf instead of the pass. As far as the fishing goes, the current was too strong and the pass too rough for me to get much done.

GALVESTON, Texas -- The rescue crews are searching for an 18-year-old man who was last seen swimming Friday near San Luis Pass, off Galveston.
The missing man has been identified as Chris Jackson of League City, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Another man who was swimming with Jackson called the Galveston Police Department at about 8:30 p.m., on Friday to report that the teenager had not resurfaced after both men were overtaken by a large wave.
U.S. Coast Guard crewmembers have a helicopter and a boat out searching for the missing 18-year-old.
“Last night we launched a fresh small boat crew from Station Freeport and they were able to stay on scene all night,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Steven Smith, a watch stander with Sector Houston/Galveston. “This morning we were able to launch a fresh aircrew from Air Station Houston to continue the search. We’re mitigating the fatigue limits of all of our resources, which allows us to continue searching for longer periods of time.”
