I am not sure what happened during foreclosure. This appears to be the last section that was not developed. Pay closer attention to the 54 acre plan as that's what they were pushing the city to approve which I believe they agreed to from what I have been told.

So were gonna get houses all the way to the pass?Looks like no more 4x4 beach access? They have been trying to end 4 wheeled beach access down there anyways......would be awesome if some rich guy or gal bought it and gave it back to the state for the peoples..go obama..lol

why would someone dump that much cash into that side of the road when the other side of the road was a failure except for now I have a place to park on a concrete road when I fish the pass?

Probably wont loose beach access... they can't build below the high tide line, adjacent wetlands, and can't disturb the dunes... and it looks like their development plan includes some sort of road to the beach...but that's just conceptual... might have to hit it from a beach access road further down..hopefully they won't cut off beach access entirely like some developments do.

            hope for the best...

in another 10 yrs. there wont be any beach access, just like Florida.
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

In New Jersey beach access is guaranteed to the public. Any chance Texas will follow suit?

Texas HAD the Open Beaches Act until some beotch, california jerkazz, real estate mofo POS named CAROL "BEOTCH" SEVERANCE farged it up-hope she dies a miserable, slow and very painful death-let's hope she drowns in kelp!!

I thought Lyda Ann, the former mayor and the complete sellouts known as the Galveston City Council did the Pointe West deal with the fact that land would be set aside for a county/city park on the bayside as a condition to supplying services, but since Lyda is a liar and the GCC is a bunch of scumbag crooks looking for dirty money, they probably rolled over-this was also why they closed beach access to my best surf spot-die fargers, die. Burn in Hello. Just makes me sick-the GD GCC and Lyda Ann the closet queen muncha lotakarpets.

True, but it was the Texas Supreme Court that "sold out" the people of Texas with their decision....bunchapricks!

There will be beach access. You will have to park at the public access points just like the ones that are already all along the West End as you make your way to SLP. They will close that portion of the beach to vehicular access by placing bollards on either side of the newly created public access points. Buy one of those utility wagons for your little cooler, tackle and rig it up with some nice rod holders and get ready for a long walk.

That's what will happen if the property sells. Like already mentioned, the bay side of the property hasn't been doing so well. All the promises made to the COG to have a marina and hotel down there didn't happen. The COG was hoping to get some additional tax revenue out of that development. They didn't get as much as they thought they would get.

If they do sell and truly develop that property you can be sure the COG will offer a compromise to allow the property owners to drivfe golf carts on the beach. They'll put some knobby tires on those carts so they can get all around that beach. They'll just ask the drivers not to run over nesting sea turtles and piping plovers there. That whole area will be vacant and private just like most of West End beaches.

I say enjoy it while you can because you never know what kind of shady deals the COG officials are making. They really don't care about what happens passed Pirates Beach. They really don't care about surf fisherman either. The COG forgets that we buy bait, ice, gas, food, drinks.......there. My last trip there cost me about $100 excluding the gas I bought in Houston.
