  • Trinity Bay Fishin

    Hey Y'all,

Does anyone know the area around Trinity Bay ? On May 8th, myself & a few Fire Fighters
I know, are planning a 3 day trip there. The Capt. of the outfit, has a beach house somewhere
at the lower end of Beach City, and there is a 26' boat involved, for us to use.

We were going down to East Matagorda Bay, but the guy backed out.....Sissy, wife wouldn't let him, Pu--y whipped we said....We thought about buyin him a skirt.....the wanker...

So the question is, where to fish there? I would imagine there are Trout, Reds, and Flounder,
and all the usual tackle right?

Look for the wells? What do you mean by Wells? As in what type, Oil, Gas or Wishing? LOL.
And what Spillway, there is one there ?

This is a tight lip area lotta haters, it does get crowded when the fishing is good.On a clear day you will be able to see the rigs out in the middle.Any of them can hold fish when it is right.Google the area look at the north and east shore line of trinity bay.My favorite trinity bay color is the who dat ttf.Texas Trout Factory, trout killers with 1/4 oz lead heads in the who dat color.

Hire a guide to take you around the first day to show you some spots. Then have at it the rest of the weekend.

Capt. Brent Juarez fishes up there a bunch.

Thanks Bubba & Admin-West end Angler,

I will be there May 8th-10th, Wed-Fri at that time, I will have access to a 26ft-er, of the land owner
who is a Fire Fighter Captain, in Houston somewhere. He supposedly knows what is going on there,
but I wanted to see for my self, seeing I am a member here on this forum.

If there are rigs out there, then there should not be a problem, catching fish.

I will heed yawl's advise, and look into this further.

            Thanks, Larry

There are tons of oil platforms and gas wells out there they are hard to miss. Get 2 Quarts of live shrimp and tie off on the down current side pitch back to the wells free lining the shrimp or small split shot if needed to help cast.

I think I'll get a water depth chart of that area, NOAA has a few.
I see by them, on a point from Houston Point, to the Spillway, the water
goes from about 3 to 8 ft, with 9 ft in spots. Good ole NOAA has a few maps
that pinpoint not only the depth, but the wells as well. I see you are right,
there are a lot of platforms out there, just SSW of Houston Point.

How's the usual fishing around that Spillway in the beginning of May?

It gets crowded but can be good... Most people sit on the spillway (tie up to it) but I prefer to be off of it & cast into it. However, you'll run into idiot boaters out there that will motor into the area you are casting to because they see an opening. It's good early with live shrimp.

Being early is a good thing, 0-Dark Thirty, 09 May 13 we'll be out there, if we're not too
hung over from the night before. Out drinking with the boy's, can be hard on a person.

I thank you for the tips on that area, it's a month off, but I'll post the results after.

Hey Sam, what up my friend, how's it going? Doing any good down there yet?
We are hoping that May will be better, as the water warms. Hopefully some trout
& reds will be chasing bait, and we can bust-em on top water, my favorite way
to fish. This will be the first time going out since we went with you, sad huh?

Yea, it has been a while bro, I still live way too far away and only one
day off really bites. But we are looking to transfer to Corpus, ASAP, or
                            at least closer to Galveston.
