Don't you know those poeple own that part of the beach and it is there
private property. People like us are not allowed but the can run they're golfcarts through you're camp anytime they please. Thats just the way it is.

A real good almost bullet prof truck is any Tacoma TRD 4X4. They have a locking differential that can be used in 4x4 Lo. I yanked out a stuck dually with one once. They laughed at me as I pulled up with my strap but they stoped laughing when the little Taco pulled out that huge truck.

Good off road tires can make a big difference, even on non limited slip 1 wheel drive.

Well I did make it to within 50ft of Chips van...good tires is a necessity! My truck (chvy) pulled that ford out no problem.

Also, when in doubt and your in the sand... air down your tires to create a bigger imprint... You can run anywhere from 30-50 PSI in your tires on the road... Off Road you should be running 5-15 PSI (5 if you have bead locks I usually air down to 15 to play it safe)

I always say... "Four wheel drive only gets you 30' further into somewhere you shouldn't have been in the first place!"

That being said a 4WD truck is really only 2wd... a 2wd truck is really only 1wd... Add a locker in 1 axle then you get true 2wd... .add another your finally at 4wd

I always pack a shovel and bucket when I am going to hit the beach. The only time I will need it is when I don't have it. Sucks about the fishing though. Full moon wades are a blast though. Next full moon will probably be my last for the year for night wading.

I have the old army folding shovel-works ok in sand, but broke one in mud. I hate getting stuck and as we all know-the 4x4 just gets ya stuck farther away from help!! Good luck Chip and take care. Hope Monte does good-looking forward to his report!

Chip, that did not sound like a fun night! As for a MAN vehicle, I have seen even the badest trucks get stuck out there.

I know it's hot, but with that van, you oughta have room for a shovel. Also, a bucket so ya can wet the sand where trying to pull out and lower tire pressure. Getting stuck is always a P.I.T.A. Having someone else pull ya out is easiest, but those items will work if no one around and ya don't plow too far into loose sand to begin with.
