        The sad fact is many people dont have a healthy respect for the water....people drown in just inches of it,the winter brings out hypothermia and wind causes white capps even worse in shallow! Sorry to hear!

          I used to kayak with a friend and he never wore his PFD he always said he could grab it if he needed it, I always told him not if was hit on the head and unconscious.

          Sad outcome on today's incident.
