    What kind of mower is it? If it is fairly new and has a fuel cut off solenoid on the carburetor bowl, that could be sticking, that or the metering rod gasket/needle & seat is leaking by and losing pressure.

    Do you have a choke or primer bulb,that sounds like your problem,cheap lawnmowers use a primer bulb if that gets a hole in it you will have the problem you discribe,If choking it wont get it started,try a good clean up of the carb may help you! If it has no choke,place palm over intake to choke and see if that gets it started,trash on inlet side clean with carb cleaner spray in can!

    Yes it has a valve between gas tank and carb.Ireplaced all the gas lines today because they were dry rotted but still doing same thing.

    Anyone work on small engines

    My mower will not start unless I pour gas in the carb.After it starts it runs fine.Turn it off and won't start until gas is poured in carb then starts .Anybody got any suggestions?
