  • Boat ramps?

Hey guys I am ditching the kayak for this weekend and planning on fishing with a buddy in his new boat. We will be staying near the state park, and he wants to fish the west end (state park, sea isle, pirates, etc.). I am usually strictly a kayak fisherman most of the time so not real familiar with any ramps. So I was wondering if anyone could give some information on any boat ramps that are open to the public, and still in working condition from the storm down that way. Any info would help. Thanks

There are two sets of ramps at sea Isle that are easy to negotiate. Heard the one at JB was up and running, but haven't been there myself.

Of course, there is always the pass.

Sea Isle would be your best bet, unless you plan on fishing SLP and then I would go to the old KOA ramp. Good luck and let us know how you do.

Sea Isle has a terrible public ramp. It is a very gradual drop and I personally had to get the rear tires partially wet from backing down so far. If you can somehow gain access to the private ramps though, you will be in good shape.

Jamaica beach has a decent ramp, only downside is a 10 minute idle ride through the canal to the bay but its not that big of a deal. Other than that there is KOA just on the west side of the pass and thats about it on the southside.

I hope I catch a 10 lb trout before I catch a flesh eating bacteria.

Jamaica Beach is fine-like Xtreme said, just 10 minutes out. Sea isle has a residents ramp (double) but is sometimes chained and locked. The public ramp next to restaurant sux. Use the jamaica Beach ramp.

Jamaica beach is far better than Sea Isle. BUT if you want to avoid any traffic you can use the Sea Isle ramp because no one else does...

The ramp at Pirates (Waterman's) is fine as well, plenty of parking room since everything is still wiped out and not open. If you are going to throw bait, it's much easier to use Sea Isle since there is a bait shop open there. Nothing close to Pirates.

Pirates is much quicker to the bay also!

I haven't seen the Sea Isle resident's ramp chained in quite a while. I dont really care if my back tires get wet, parking your car down there for a weekend is about as bad as actually getting salt water on it....you should run your truck through a rinse after each time you go down to the coast anyways.

I rarely use ramps, but Sea Isle is a straight shot to the pass and Dana's cove, and great West Bay Fishing spots, not to mention has a bait shop and a mechanic's shop with a guy that is very knowledgeable should you need some boat help and can find him.

Launch at Pirates... Double wide ramp, Bait is at Causeway or Sea Isle... If your pulling your truck stop at West Bay Bait & Tackle in Jamaica just West of the Chevron on FM 3005 and get shrimp... Your going to be targeting deeper water with these temperatures
