As I see it this is an excellent idea to improve my cardiovascular health! It pitts man against the elements,Those of us who choose to enter truly get it...so too speak!Guides do not frighten me as they put on they're pants the same way we all do,one leg at a time! These boundarys are the shizz, seeing it include my whole set of bays gets me pumped up!Thanks Coe Im all for it!

Winter Trout Tournaments
I'd probably revise that.Originally posted by Rbunch View PostSounds good to me. Guides should be able to fish any kind of a winter trout tournament. I agree with opening the boundaries up. Launch after midnight? I would think 4 would be plenty early. We are West End Anglers, a saltwater tribe!

Totally agree. Hope this happens cuz Im in for sure.Originally posted by Steve_A View Post................I do believe all that "crap". There are numerous fishermen/fisherwomen that can win this type of tournament. Some times I feel the guides can be at a disadvantage since their job is to put customers on fish, not just big ones. A lot of us don't fish the summer tournaments for the reason it's hard to compete against bait fishermen, so we don't fish them and if this tournament is not for you, don't fish it. Maybe you can talk to Coe about getting another type of tournament. And for not having a boat, that's a poor excuse. A couple of winters ago the winning stringer of 18.5 lbs. was won by a fisherman that didn't have a boat. He just walked into west bay and whupped all of us.Mirrolure Pro Staff

Here is my outlook on guides fishing winter trout tournaments. I like the fact that it is an environment where the guide does not have an advantage at all. Everyone says “I’m not fishing the tournament because guides are fishing it”. Well the tournament thing is not for you… Just my opinion let me add… The past two trout series were won by good trout fishermen… Joe & Roger Friedrichs (not guides) dominated the spectacular series… Steve Anderson & Aaron Stillwagon (not guides) did really well during the Galveston trophy trout series winning team of the year…
Being a guide has its disadvantages when tournament fishing… The guys that stay on the fish are the ones that do well. All spring, summer & fall being a guide it’s all about numbers and keeping the customer happy… That is a time consuming job that really don’t let the guides stay on the big fish and when it comes to the tourneys… Well, they are forced to depend on past patterns and rely on a good partner (not a guide) That is why Aqua Pimp & DPop are such a good team… And it is unfair because I do believe deep in my heart DPop has a lateral line and gills behind his ears... We need to change his name to aquaman... LMAO So all in all being a guide doesn’t play into the hand of a trophy trout fisherman in the Galveston Bay Complex… Capt. John Havens is a rare case Havens & Renteria are always at the top of every tourney board... But they are all awesome trout fishermen... Just my .02 on guides fishing tourneys... Over & Out...We are West End Anglers, a saltwater tribe!
