Then went over by Treasure Island. The Policia Boat told me to leave.

Jamaica Beach Canal side
Brothers made it down yesterday-bottom of his house is trashed-1' of mud, that crummy sailboat that was always tied up in boat basin is in his front yard along with 2-3' high pile of wood/deckings/trash. He's at 4416 (?) Jamaica Cove-they could not make it down street to my house at 16535 Jamaica Cove due to huge debris pile at bend where road always floods (especially after the "improvement" where they opened up the drains- stupid!) My Bronco is in ditch between my house and neighbor's (totaled), my little bay boat is gone. My parents house (off Flamingo-on Sandpiper) has no bottom left at all and their car is in front yard and totaled. All houses had 8' of water in downstairs-brother said way damage is, it was from surge, not slow rising because too many downstairs areas (walls) are just plain gone. Boats and jet skis piled up all over, fridges floating in canals. Major mess and lots of damage. Local Barney Fife is even turning away older looking folks in nice cars yesterday because they weren't Jam Beach IDs on TDLs, so even if from Houston and second house-that old man cop turned you away-good and bad-obviously some were folks trying to check out their home. Boats sunk all over-many upside down in lifts. Siding damage is prevalent. Some houses gone-one on Flamingo about halfway down from Bob Smith and Main canal is just pilings. Very sad and with Mayor Thomas and LeBlanc-we may not get back down for awhile due to their stupidity regarding traffic flow-just evidences their complete ignorance as to folks wanting to minimize mold/mildew damage.

If anyone else gets close I would love some pictures in Jamaica Beach also. I have a house in Jamaica Beach on Jolly Roger across from the Wildlife Preserve, a two story just past where the flat water ends and the ditch begins. My dad has a house on Ponce DeLeon, second house from the end on the left. Just in case you get the opportunity to snap a few pictures it would be greatly appreciated.

Wow. It's amazing how some of the structures withstood the wind and waves, and others did not. You'll see someone's dock completely washed away, then you have a clay pot and a garden hose still on the spool just sitting there next to a boat that floated into the yard and bashed into the house over and over. Crazy stuff. I wanna see some pics of Bailey's hood down on Jamaica Beach.

Well, they are still in a recovery mode, going door to door etc... That is the reason for the media blackout. It was confirmed by the Sherrif officer I was with, the Federal Government doesn't want to show another Katrina disaster... I heard that 60% of the homes on Bolivar didn't make it... I am uploading the photos now and will put a link up here in a second. As far as letting people back on the island... 2 reports say it will be a long time... Resident's belongings are everywhere its one gigantic garage sale!Leave a comment:

first hand west end report!
II drove the boat down to harborwalk today escorted by a Harris county sheriff officer, we made our way down the icw towards greens cut. The boats in harborwalk were beat up, a few have listed onto there side some have sunk, in particular a brand new 60' azimut! The houses along the icw on the way to greens all made it. The barrier has been really beaten up. No debris crossing west bay, trees were spotted and portions of decks seen floating in lake Como as we entered pirates. All the homes along the bay front lost there decks, boat houses for the most part are intact. Unfortunately all homes were covered by 5 feet of water across pirates. Boats are littering the area jet skis in pools debris everywhere. Basically its everyone's first floor all spread out everywhere. I personally have a new lawn ornament. A nice. 21' old school ranger bay boat lodged 3 feet off the ground in between 3 palm trees. Shingle damage everywhere.... Many homeowners in pirates left boats in there slings. Because of this, boats are sunk left and right, t tops are sheared off, engine cowlings chewed apart, boats houses buckled.... Some boats ended up in the owners downstairs. I am currently without power and on my phone, I will post pictures and a 30min video of the area.
Jamaica beach in particular beachcomber estates, received 4 feet of water, downstairs were all destroyed.... The front row, only 1 house made it the rest are gone. If you have any questions please PM me.
