From Avery's to SLP...how long

I can run about 35 in my little CC. My partner and I were wanting to sign up for the Slam, im not familiar with anything really east of Bird Island and I know the S. shoreline of West from SLP on east is pretty shallow and hairy. How long (minutes) is the ride from the weigh in point to the pass and is it pretty easy to navigate? We dont know the water very good and if its gonna be half a tank from A to B then that could be a deciding factor for us...

Less than 20 minutes from SLP to Sea Isle at 35 mph. It is not "hairy" after you make the outlet point into West bay-once you are out of the marked channel area to get into West Bay, it's maybe 10 minutes at most to entrance of Sea Isle. There isn't any reefs, just sand/mud bottoms, so if 200 yards plus from south shoreline, no problem after entering West bay.

That 20 minutes is estimated from the bridge to Sea Isle entrance via the bay. If you know how to get into West bay from Bird Island, you have about a 10 minute run to Sea isle. It is maybe 5-7 miles total run from bridge to Sea isle-easy run. It's from Jamaica Beach east that gets "hairy"-Shell Island, Caracahua Reef, Confederates, along old ICW channel and N and S Deer islands-any gps should get ya thru West bay if ya follow the depth contours and use your zoom feature.
