  • Barbque pit question(for the gurus)

For the FWE cooking team pro's...if you were going to buy a backyard pit, that could be portable enough for a 5x8 trailer and 1 to 2 people to load. What size would you get and what style would you look for? Reverse flow, standard dampner system or other, smoker box vs no smoker box, size for say a party of 10-15, ect ect, ect....
Also heat box design info would be helpful(square vs round)...I understand leak proof, 1/4" thick minimum, but any other things I should look at? Also, not wanting to break the bank here...max benefit for little $$$...I'm cheap that way!

    Thanks everyone!

Thinking this might be the ideal thing. I had a yak/beach, fishing trailer made and it has a place for a propane bottle...I'm gonna go check them out. Still want a traditional, but for now...this is what I'm looking for.

those gas smokers are great but I don't consider them smokers. More like an outdoor oven. I wear a sweater tied around my neck and put on some kahki shorts with my penny loafers when I use mine.

Agreed, but I see some benefit in being able to transport to the beach, camping, ect... Still want a REAL one, but for now it should work fine.....and it's khaki not kahki Biff!

Propane is a three-carbon alkane with the molecular formula C3H8, normally a gas, but compressible to a transportable liquid. A by-product of natural gas processing and petroleum refining, it is commonly used as a fuel for engines, oxy-gas torches, barbecues, portable stoves, and residential central heating. Propane is one of a group of liquefied petroleum gases. The others include butane, propylene, butadiene, butylene, isobutylene and mixtures thereof.

Propane containing too much propene (also called propylene) is not suited for most vehicle fuels. HD-5 is a specification which establishes a maximum concentration of 5% propene in propane. Propane and other LP gas specifications are established in ASTM D-1835.[3] All propane fuels include an odorant, almost always ethanethiol, so that people can easily smell the gas in case of a leak. Propane as HD-5 was originally intended for use as vehicle fuel. HD-5 is currently being used in all propane applications.
