  • Last night of Atari

Well, it's my last night here at the family homestead. I'm going to play Atari until I hit the sack. Who grew up with Atari? Post your memories AND your favorite game.

My dad to this day has a Atari still in OG box with plastic around it when they first came out at the CES show way back when and the hardass never bought us one to play.Oh well that's what friends were for but they all use to come over and marvel at the latest and greatest gadgets we had around the house growing up.Dad didn't like video games.lol and now i can't blame him.

My Dad kept his old Atari I played that thing til I was 6 then Nintendo came out and the family was mesmerized by Mario and Duck Hunt. My mom played for 8 hours straight now I have every nes game on my computer using some program, it's pretty cool.

I just had a good time playing Swordquest Earthworld. I'm tired after bein' worked all day. The only break I got was takin' Dad to the chootin' range. The old man darn near outshot me with his wheelgun. I beat him by 3 points. Not bad for a 74 year old. My excuse is I hadn't shot a snub nose in almost 8 years. Took the family Basset Hound to the vet and got the bad news she has cancer. We won't know how bad it is yet, but tomorrow might be the last time I see her. Makes leavin' tough. I plan to wake up early and hit Asteroids for a while before I load up.

G340, I think you meant Missile Command. My favorite was Pitfall!

Didn't have one as a kid, but in the early 80s I worked for a plastics recycling company. We got all of the reject games and consoles from the manufacturers and recycled them. First, we tested each console and every game, if they worked, the boss took them to a flea market where he'd make much more money than recycling(I'm pretty sure this was done under-the-table). Needless to say, all of us workers had 5200 consoles and every game you could imagine.

I still play games almost weekly on my PS3.(when I'm not fishing, eating, or sleeping)

I have 2 working ataris and a huge box of games. I need to order up the part to hook it up to a non-disco era TV, I just never think to do it. I got one of those little atari like controllers that plugs right into your TV for a gift a few years ago. Has tons of games built into it. It's good fun, let me show my boy how we did it back when we had to walk uphill both ways in the snow, with baked potatos in our pockets to keep our hands warm, fending off bears with a loose leaf notebook, just to play a video game. Oh yeah River Raid was the best Atari game ever. We also have the midway classic collection for our PS2, its all the old midway arcade games. Rampage, Dig Dug, Gauntlet, ect. Hours of fun there. Red warrior need food badly.
When I grow up I want to be, One of the harvesters of the sea. I think before my days are done, I want to be a fisherman.
