I say October 12. Just enough to make you think its' gonna get cold and then we'll be back in the 80s in just a few days.

If El Nino kicks in as expected, it should be wetter and cooler this fall going into winter. That's good ... but when would the first few shots of cold air like below ~45 degrees hit? That's usually in later October to early November, although Houston can get some little northers well before then (I live in SPI). The NOAA climate maps show the upper Texas Coast as getting some higher than normal rainfall and cooler temperatures, but when is something of a gamble. I haven't checked the Farmer's Almanac, which sometimes nails is pretty good.

We will get a few weak ones starting around mid-Sept. Chill down the water a bit and really get the fish biting.

Won't get the strong N wind ones that drop the water level "Flounder run fronts" until early Nov.

Any front around duck season is good to get some fresh birds down. I have seen them really get dove moving too, but a dove flying with a 20knt wind is a hard target!

Sept 28 is my birthday, and more than not, in the times that I can remember....the 28th or sometime around then, there has been a North wind blowing and temps in the lower 80's. Purely unscientific, and of course...I remember times in October/November, and December where I sweated my butt off!

March 9, 2012 - it was a terrible wind - but was full of hot air and very stinky - the day Obama came to Houston.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.
